Skincare Routine to Age Gracefully

I’ll start by saying I’m not a skincare professional. Skincare has not always been a priority in my life, but as I continue to age, I’ve begun to pay more attention to it. I’ve researched and tested many lotions, potions and serums in the hopes of maintaining that dewy glow, but who are we kidding? I’m not a kid anymore and my face and hands are exposed to all the good and bad the sun has to offer. I’m in the water between 4-7 hours on an average week.

It isn’t my goal to look like a teenager, but more so, to just age gracefully, AND not empty my bank account doing so. I’ve done some research and have found that keeping my regimen simple and consistent produces the best results. Although, this routine works for me it may not work for you.

Morning Routine

Step 1: Wash my face with water, then pat dry.

Step 2: Three drops of The Ordinary – Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F (gently pat or rub on face & neck)

Step 3: One drop of The Ordinary – “Buffet” + Copper Peptides 1% (gently pat or rub on face & neck)

Step 4: La Roche-Posay Broad Spectrum SPF 60 – Anthelios 60 Melt-In Sunscreen Milk – Water Resistent (80 Minutes) (gently pat or rub on face & neck)

Step 5: La Roche-Posay Extra Dry skin Body and Face – Lipikar Balm AP+ Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream (gently pat or rub on face & neck)

Step 6: Follow with makeup, if I choose to wear makeup that day

Bedtime Routine

Step 1: Wash my face with Chilogy Skincare Series – Cleanse Charcoal Face Wash, then pat dry.

Step 2: Three drops of The Ordinary – Granactive REtinoid 5% in Squalane (gently pat or rub on face & neck)

Step 3: La Roche-Posay Extra Dry skin Body and Face – Lipikar Balm AP+ Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream (gently pat or rub on face & neck)

These products have helped to keep my face feeling super moisturized and moisture in the skin is what keeps it looking and feeling young.

What I do after a surf session is immediately slather on three drops of Rosehip Oil or Carrot Seed Oil. I keep a bottle in my backpack. The salt water tends to suck out any moisture I have from my face and these oils make my skin feel super pampered after my session. If I’m not going directly home then I will also put on some sunscreen.

I hope you’ve found this helpful. Please be sure to share your thoughts and skin regimen. We’d love to hear it!
